QUALITY NOT QUANTITY… SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13, 15.28PM
Kremlin Letters - Professor David Reynolds
It always feels like a Eureka! moment when you stumble across a speaker who delivers.
All do of course communicate at some level with their audience; some amuse, many recite, others preach and a smidgin mumble. But once in a while a very small few will grab you by the throat and ‘hold’ you in a vice-like brace.
It’s not of course an unpleasant sensation but a hypnotic one where the speaker, more often than not in gentle, measured tones, weaves a simple but spellbinding story with just their voice and insight.
Without further ado then say hello to Professor David Reynolds, award-winning historian, broadcaster and writer whose talk on the wartime correspondence between Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt encapsulated perfectly one of these lucky finds.
With little fanfare, and a complete absence of hubris, Reynolds held his audience captivated and what so easily could have proved flat and listless became extraordinarily alive.
