A FLAWLESS END-OF-FESTIVAL TOAST… SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14, 18.27PM
Austen -Caroline Langrishe, Adrian Lukis, Camilla Pay, Rosie Lomas
And boy was it!
A beautiful, seemingly effortlessly amalgam of Jane Austen readings, performance and music that complemented perfectly its elegant staging in Blenheim’s Orangery.
Accomplished harpist Camilla Pay provided the music, Rosie Lomas its immaculate notes, and actors Caroline Langrishe and Adrian Lukis Austen’s words brought deliciously to life.
This was, quite simply, a literary spectacle, but one on a cleverly intimate level, liberating Austen’s body of work with the just right amount of knowing moxie but equally respectful of its vital heritage.
Which means in short I, and the rest of its sell-out audience, lapped it up, hook, line and sinker. And then, understandably, wanted more.
Enough said
