Are you writing a novel, or thinking of writing one? All fiction needs tension, whether it is subtle tightening of the atmosphere between two characters, or an edge-of-your-seat nail-biting meltdown.  This workshop is for all writers, working in any genre. Novelists Fanny Blake and Lucy Atkins show you how to create tension in your work, looking at character, setting, emotional stakes, and much, much more, to make your writing fly.

Blake is the author of four novels, most recently With A Friend Like You. She is books editor of Woman & Home magazine. Before that she worked for many years in publishing and was editorial director of Viking Penguin.

Atkins is the author of the 2014 novel, The Missing One. She has also written, co-written or ghost written seven non-fiction books and is a feature journalist, and book critic for The Sunday Times.

Atkins and Blake also discuss how to get published at another event on Sunday.
