Five actors perform Macbeth in 90 minutes with one piano, no lighting, no set and no intermission. The cast includes Royal Shakespeare Company actor Jan Knightley, currently appearing in The Comedy of Errors and The Tempest, and Anna Northam, who has appeared on televisionin Midsomer Murders and in Bring Me the Head of Mavis Davis. They are part of the Performance Research Group, based at the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford. The cast also includes Cassie Ash, Emily Oliver and Will Sharpe and they are directed by lecturer and fellow of the Shakespeare Institute Jaq Bessell.
This event marks a new partnership between the Shakespeare Institute and the festival. From 2013, it will see the festival stage an annual ‘promenade theatre’ where the audience follows the actors as they perform. Promenade theatre will alternate between Blenheim Palace and the town of Woodstock.
