One of Britain’s best food writers, William Sitwell, discusses his latest work with this country’s leading expert on local and regional food, writer and broadcaster Henrietta Green. Sitwell, editor of the award-winning Waitrose Kitchen magazine, celebrates the great dishes, culinary techniques and chefs over the centuries in A History of Food in 100 Recipes. His journey takes him from the earliest bread recipe in Ancient Egypt, through the greatest party planner of the Middle Ages and on to the history of the roast dinner.
Sitwell, described as ‘one of the great food writers of our day’ by chef Marco Pierre White, writes on food for a wide variety of newspapers and magazines. He appears on BBC2’s A Question of Taste. Green is widely regarded as the founder of the farmers’ market movement in the UK. Her works include the recent A Green Guide to Traditional Foods.
