******* This isn’t meant to alarm but it’s just occurred to me that whilst waiting for Darcey Bussell to arrive, I struck up conversation with a very pleasant American couple.
They were funny, warm, and not without a little class, and as people rarely do, we started chatting about politics. American politics.
I expressed the opinion that their current election is akin to a circus on acid. And they laughed. And I laughed. And it’s not too strong to say I felt an affection for them.
And then as we were all laughing and smiling and just feeling right neighbourly, the husband casually expressed that they WOULD be voting for Trump.
