Bestselling author Felix Francis talks about his latest thriller Triple Crown, working with his father Dick Francis and how he successfully took on the family writing trade.

In Triple Crown, British Horse Authority investigator Jeff Hinkley finds himself in the United States, where he has been seconded to the US Federal Anti-Corruption in Sports Agency to root out a mole who has been passing on confidential information to fix races. Hinkley goes undercover as a groom in New York and finds himself caught in a world where corrupt individuals will stop at nothing to win the Triple Crown.

Felix Francis helped with the writing and research of many of his father’s novels. He is co-author of Dead Heat, Silks, Even Money and Crossfire and solo author of Gamble, Bloodline, Refusal, Damage, and Front Runner. He has been widely praised for maintaining the family tradition of producing novels full of suspense and mystery and for capturing the excitement and drama of the horse-racing industry.

Dick Francis was a jockey and crime writer. He won more than 350 races, was champion jockey of the British National Hunt, and rode for The Queen Mother. After retiring from racing, he wrote dozens of crime novels based in the horse-racing world, 40 of which became international bestsellers.

The event will include a short showing of a video of the 1956 Grand National when the Queen’s horse Devon Loch collapsed under Dick Francis 40 yards from the winning post.
